''Down the Crypt'' Matted Print
The Chapel of St. Joseph of Arimathea, on the crypt level of Washington National Cathedral, has a somewhat heavier feel than the light and soaring English Gothic style elsewhere in the cathedral. A portable canvas labyrinth is laid out on the floor. Unlike a maze, a labyrinth is a single continuous pathway into the center of the design, used as a spiritual, meditative tool by visitors who take a slow, contemplative walk into the center.
